The Douglas College Alumni Association has announced that Christopher James Thornley has been selected to receive the 2012 Douglas College Distinguished Alumni Award.

An individual with outstanding achievements, Thornley’s  career is a working example of Douglas College’s new positioning statement: Do what you love. Be good at it.

From his career in supporting the arts and working for the not-for-profit sector, to being well regarded in the business community, Thornley’s prominence in the field of marketing and communications – advertising and design in particular – started out with his pursuit for education at Douglas College.

Today, Thornley believes he has been blessed with the tools and opportunities that enabled him to transfer his passion into a career. He is a recognized designer in the field of marketing and communications, and currently is the founder and managing partner of the advertising agency: ThornleyHAYNE Creative Communications.

Thornley was mentored by Douglas College’s Syd Dyke, Ruth Nichol, and Peggy Cromer.

Thornley will be presented the 2012 Douglas College Distinguished Alumni Award at the June 2012 graduation ceremony.
