Kwantlen alumna scoops CMA scholarship

Kwantlen Polytechnic University alumna, Ling Xiao, was the successful recipient of a $2,500 scholarship awarded by the Certified Management Accountants Society of BC (CMA BC).

“This scholarship means so much to me,” said Xiao. “I enjoyed the ACCT 4720 advanced management accounting course and discovered that management accounting knowledge is critical to all businesses because it can help managers gain insight into the efficiency of business operations. I see this CMA scholarship as a sign for me to dedicate myself to be a management accountant.”

CMA BC presents this scholarship to the student who has demonstrated outstanding achievement in the course, ACCT 4720 – advanced management accounting. The $2,500 is used towards the CMA strategic leadership program (SLP), a professional development program. It focuses on the best of contemporary and emerging management practices while developing the accounting, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, and communication skills essential for today’s successful management professional. Kwantlen’s BBA in accounting program provides full and part-time intensive study for students wishing to earn a business degree. The program integrates skills and concepts of advanced accounting, business and leadership. In Canada, a degree is now a mandatory prerequisite to the awarding of all accounting designations.
