Christmas book sales benefit hospital
For the second year, an original version of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas has been produced by Guildford Town Centre to raise local health care dollars.
Guided by Surrey art teacher Marc Pelech, a trio of students – Michele Miguel, Zoey Ahn and Seo-Yeun Kang – spent their summer working together to create 15 pieces of artwork for the book.
“I’m pleased by the high quality of artwork and delighted to lend my support towards this fundraising endeavour,” said Pelech.
The book is on sale at the shopping centre for $10 from now until Dec. 22, with all proceeds to benefit the Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF).
“We are very excited about this project,” said Peggy White, Guildford’s general manager. “What a wonderful opportunity to show what great things our youth are doing, give them the chance to create artwork for their portfolios and at the same time support a worthwhile cause, everybody wins.”
The Guildford shopping centre has been a leader in supporting Surrey Memorial Hospital’s new children’s emergency room, said SMHF chair Ron Knight, adding the ER will treat more than 17,000 kids annually when it opens next year.
“This is a brilliant project that not only encourages the creativity of our youth but also supports the expansion of Surrey Memorial Hospital’s pediatric services.”
The book is available at centre court next to Santa’s Winter Wonderland at the shopping centre on 152 Street near 104 Avenue.
