Capt. George Olson watches his workmates from firehall #18 Hazmat hockey team (in Red) battle members from firehall #15 during the second annual charity hockey tournament at Surrey Sports and Leisure Centre on Friday.

Ten Teams representing municipal fire and engineering departments in Surrey, Vancouver, Langley and Port Coquitlam were competing to raise funds for the Firefighters Charitable Society's Nutritional Snack Program, an initiative that provides nutritional food and snacks to nearly 2,000 Surrey school children.

The program costs $100,000 annually and is funded entirely through the Firefighters Charitable Society. This past year Surrey residents Dave and Diane Balsor donated $100,000 to the society for the  snack program.
