A tale of a dog with a tongue

w-dogtale.jpg

Five-year-old bull-mastiff Sam-I-Am lets out a yawn as Denis Zadymov, 10, reads a Dr. Seuss book with St. John Ambulance volunteer Joy Dockrey at the Newton Library on March 9.

The reading was part of the library's Dog Tales series, in which youngsters have short reading sessions with St. John Ambulance therapy dogs. The program is free for kids aged 6 and over.

The next events are on Saturdays, March 30, April 20 and 27, May 11 and 18 and June 22 and 29. Registration is at 1 p.m. and reading sessions are from 2-3 p.m. in 15-minute sessions.

Parents must stay in the library.
