On a mission to help
The Surrey Urban Mission was buzzing with activity Wednesday (Oct. 16) as people lined up to get haircuts, have their pets checked, get a manicure or have a makeover.
It was all part of Surrey Connect Day – during Homelessness Action Week – meant to bring public awareness and understanding to the issue of homelessness in the Lower Mainland.
The action day invited professionals to offer their services to those in need, as well as provide information and resources. Clothing, household items, shoes, baby items, food and care packages were also available.
Other events included a bowl-a-thon last weekend and a Homeless Awareness Walk on Friday (Oct. 18) on King George Boulevard.
