New Surrey school opens

Students at Goldstone Park Elementary took their first steps on their shiny new gymnasium floor Monday (Feb. 3) as the school opened its doors for its first day of classes.

The school, located at 6287 146 Street, has room for about 550 students. Approximately 300 students, as well as staff members, made the move from nearby Cambridge Elementary, where they were a "school-within-a-school."

The Newton school was named in honour of a local park.
