Firefighters host fundraiser

The Surrey Firefighters Charitable Society will be hosting a 100-kilometre fundraiser Sept. 12.

The society will be holding the ride around the city using bike lanes and multi-use paths. Riders – which this year will consist of Surrey firefighters, family and friends – will follow the rules of the road and leave in three packs based on skill level and riding speeds, in order to raise funds and awareness for the society’s health initiatives.

This year, the society aims to raise $10,000 – with a long-term goal of more than $50,000 – through sponsorships, partnerships and individual fundraising through online donations.
