Surrey's City Centre library hosts acclaimed author

Award-winning author Anita Rau Badami will read from her new novel, Tell it to the Trees, at an evening at City Centre Library in Surrey.

Tell it to the Trees is described as a tense mystery, and heart-rending story of family life. It's set in a South Asian household in a small town in northern B.C.

The domestic drama looks at family life, exploring the impact of family secrets and the cost of preserving the family name.

Her other acclaimed works include Tamarind Mem, The Hero's Walk, and Can You Hear the Nightbird Call?

She's the recipient of the Marian Engel award for a woman writer in mid-career.

She lives in Montreal.

The Oct. 1 event, running from 7 to 8 p.m., is free, but seating is limited.
