Emergency Centre Campaign: Mission accomplished
More than 10,600 donors have helped to make Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation’s largest ever fundraising effort a success.
The Emergency Centre Campaign is now concluding with enough pledges to reach the Foundation’s $15 million goal.
While the Foundation’s work on this campaign is wrapping up, some donors will continue to actively fundraise in support of their individual goals. “I can’t say enough about the community’s support,” said Emergency Centre Campaign Chair Chris Midmore. “By the time all pledges have been fully paid, we may very well have surpassed our ambitious target.” The Emergency Centre Campaign has been raising money in support of a new emergency department and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), both of which are key elements of the Critical Care Tower project. The new emergency centre is scheduled to open at Surrey Memorial Hospital in 2013, while the rest of the tower – including the new NICU – is expected to open in 2014. “This is yet another example of how residents, businesses, and community groups consistently come together to support the hospital,” said Emergency Centre Campaign Honorary Chair Herb Dhaliwal. “They will be rewarded with spectacular new facilities equipped with state-of-the-art technology.” Surrey Memorial Hospital Foundation will announce in the coming weeks a new campaign to purchase equipment that will help attract new doctors to Surrey.
