wNewtonStabbing-ES.jpg

A man was stabbed in Newton Friday and was rushed to hospital.

Police and ambulance crews were called to about 146 Street and 80 Avenue at about 3 p.m. responding to reports of a stabbing.

A 46-year-old man was taken away by ambulance, while police searched a home. The injured man is in serious, but stable, condition.

Police were still on scene at 5 p.m., and as of posting, not arrests had been made.

Mounties say the victim and attacker knew each other and that investigators are confident they will be able to secure an arrest after they talk to the victim.
