UPDATE: Victim of weekend homicide in Surrey identified

At approximately 6:40 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, Surrey RCMP received a 911 call regarding a suspicious incident. Officers attended a residence in the 7400 block of 140s Street and located the body of a 43-year-old male inside.

The man has now been identified as Balwinder Uppal of Surrey.

The cause of death has been confirmed as multiple gunshot wounds.

Investigators believe that this was a targeted homicide and not a random act of violence.

Anyone with information regarding this homicide that has not already spoken to an Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) investigator is asked to call the IHIT Tip Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448).
