Newton jewelry store employee shot
An employee at a jewelry store in the Newton neighbourhood of Surrey was shot during an attempted robbery on the weekend.
The employee, who was working on Sunday at the Sona Chandi jewelry store in the mini-mall complex at 8430 128 St., was shot in the abdomen and taken by ambulance to hospital, police said. His wounds have been described as serious, but not life-threatening.
Police are seeking several suspects who fled in a vehicle.
