Vancouver Police probe Surrey in-custody death
A 58-year-old man has died at while at the Surrey RCMP detachment, prompting an external investigation into the death.
On Dec. 23, the man was arrested by Surrey RCMP for breaching a court order.
Three days later, he laid down on the floor of his cell, and RCMP staff asked Emergency Health Services (who were there on an unrelated matter) to check the man.
He was transported to hospital, where he died.
The matter has been given to the Vancouver Police department for investigation.
