Maple Ridge man dead after crashing in water-filled ditch in Surrey
One man is dead and his female passenger is in critical condition following a single-vehicle accident Tuesday night that saw a vehicle slide into a water-filled ditch on 176 Street.
Surrey RCMP say a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe was heading west on 80 Avenue at approximately 9:45 p.m., when it made a left-hand turn onto 176 Street. The driver lost control of the vehicle, which ended up in the ditch on the west side of the road.
Emergency crews were called to the scene where the driver, a 39-year-old resident of Maple Ridge, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a 29-year-old female from Surrey, was taken to hospital where she is listed in critical condition.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, although speed is believed to be a factor.
Surrey RCMP are seeking witnesses, who are asked to call 604-599-0502.
