A two-year-old girl is dead after slamming into a passing car on her tricycle.

The young child was riding a plastic trike in the laneway of a home in the 13400-block of 83A Avenue on Wednesday evening.

At just before 9 p.m., she hit a passing Saturn Vue and tumbled under the car.

She was brought to the side of the lane by the driver, then taken to Royal Columbian Hospital where she died.

Police are not anticipating any charges against the driver, as drugs, alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors.

However, the RCMP crash investigators continue to examine the scene.
