Digging in for new school space
Surrey School Board chair Laurae McNally (centre) shares a laugh with Education Minister George Abbott (centre, red hat) and local MLAs at a symbolic groundbreaking Friday for two new Surrey schools (Katzie and Goldstone Park) and two high school additions (Fraser Heights and Panorama Park Secondaries).
Goldstone will be in south Newton and is expected to cost $14.7 million and have capacity for about 555 students.
Katzie will have room for about 605 kids and cost approximately $14 million.
Fraser Heights Secondary, which currently has 16 portables, will be expanded , allowing room for about 200 students, at a cost of $7.1 million, while Panorama Ridge's addition will cost about $8.4 million and create space for 300 students.
All four projects are expected to be complete by September 2013.
