Scooter driver dead after crash
A 36-year-old Surrey man is dead after a late-night accident while driving his motor scooter.
Surrey RCMP said the man was eastbound on Fraser Highway at 176 Street when he lost control of the gas-powered moped at 2:18 a.m. Saturday.
The man was laying motionless on the road when he was run over by an eastbound minivan driven by a 28-year-old from Langley.
The victim died of his injuries.
Police say there's no indication alcohol or dangerous driving was a factor on the part of the minivan driver, but officers are still trying to determine why the victim lost control of the scooter.
