Superstore gas bay OK’d

The owners of a proposed Real Canadian Superstore site in South Surrey’s Grandview Corners completed an overhaul of their project at a Monday public hearing, winning approval for changes to the store gas station.

The application by Loblaw Properties was unanimously approved, with Couns. Mary Martin and Judy Villeneuve absent.

The changes will more than double the gas station convenience store space and add a propane fuel pump. The rules governing gas stations have changed since 2005, when city council approved the original layout of the planned gas bar and Superstore on the 20-acre site facing the Wal-Mart across 160 Street.

Superstore earlier won approval for changes to the size and layout of the store as well, but the company declined to say if it plans to actually build it any time soon.

So far, no construction application has been filed for either the gas station or the main store.
