Surrey newlyweds are back
A Surrey couple is back home after a harrowing trip to Egypt, where they were injured in a devastating bus crash last week.
Richard Eladam and his wife Jennifer Pannu-Eladam, touched down at Vancouver International Airport at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Waiting to see them was Jennifer's father Steve Pannu, who told CTV News how excited he was at the prospect of seeing his daughter again.
"I believe she is very much looking forward to being on Canadian soil,'' said Pannu, as he waited in the airport's arrivals area.
Jennifer was badly burned in the bus crash and will require skin grafts. Her husband is once again walking and eating.
"He is in good spirits,'' Steve Pannu said.
The two were nearing the end of their Middle Eastern honeymoon when their tour bus struck a concrete block and burst into flames on May 1.
Jennifer, 25, had part of her left arm amputated after the crash and suffered burns on her chest and back and had her spleen removed. Richard, 31, suffered from internal bleeding and kidney and intestine damage.
