Police are investigating another murder after the body of a man was found near a ditch on Colebrook Road.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has taken custody of the case and is looking into a murder after the body was discovered at 123 Street and Colebrook Road at about 9:30 a.m. Monday.

IHIT Cpl. Adam MacIntosh confirmed investigators had been called out to Surrey, but said he had no more information to provide until he was given details.

"We are in the early stages of this investigation and we are working to find out if this latest homicide is related to gang activity.” MacIntosh said.

The killing is Surrey's fifth murder in a month.

At least two of the previous shootings were gang related.

The Leader could not confirm by press time whether this latest killing was targeted or gang-related.

IHIT is asking anyone who may have information about any of the shootings to call the IHIT tipline at 1-877-551-IHIT(4448) or email at ihittipline@rcmp-grc.gc.ca
