Woman, 85, victim of hit and run in Surrey

A man has been arrested for allegedly knocking over an 85-year-old woman with his Mercedes, then taking off.

On Saturday morning, just after 7:30, the woman was heading south down an alleyway at 146 Street near 60 Avenue when she was hit by the car.

She sustained serious injuries to her right side, body and head, was taken to hospital, where she is in serious but stable condition.

The alleged driver, who lives nearby, left the scene then returned and parked the vehicle in his garage.

The 47-year-old denied his involvement in the accident.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this collision.

The man has been arrested.

Officers have obtained warrants in order to seize the involved vehicle.
