90 days in jail for Surrey rioter
A Surrey woman who lit a police car on fire during the 2011 Stanley Cup riot in Vancouver has been sentenced to three months in jail.
Alicia Price, 24, was identified after videos and websites sprung up online following the riot. One video showed a clip of someone alleged to be Price, leaning inside the back of a police cruiser, holding a lighter to the seat upholstery.
Price initially pleaded not guilty, but later changed her plea, admitting to to taking part in a riot and attempted arson.
Her sentence, handed down in Vancouver Provincial Court on Tuesday, also includes 15 months probation and community service following her 90-day jail term.
She is among 270 people charged in connection to the June 15, 2011 riot, which happened after the Boston Bruins Stanley Cup win over the Vancouver Canucks. More than 140 people have been sentenced so far.
