Police are hunting for a suspect after a Transit Police officer fired shots at his vehicle near the Gateway SkyTrain Station on the weekend.

On Sunday, at about 4 p.m., an officer fired shots at a suspect who fled in a vehicle. Police aren't saying much else.

It’s unclear what prompted police to open fire in the first place, or whether they were shot at first.

Police haven’t released a vehicle description at this time.

The Independent Investigations Office and the Surrey RCMP Major Crime Unit are investigating the incident.
