Roadblock reaps hit-and-run witnesses
Police have seven new witnesses to a hit-and-run that took the lives of an elderly Surrey couple two weeks ago.
Surrey RCMP set up a roadblock at the scene of the crash (the 8500 block of 128 Street) early Saturday morning in the hopes of finding people who had information pertaining to the incident but had not yet contacted authorities.
"Seven people were identified as having been at or by the collision scene," said RCMP Sgt. Roger Morrow. "So we now have that much more to follow up on."
The RCMP's major crimes unit has canvassed area businesses and obtained hundreds of hours of video footage.
Dilbag Badh and his wife Bakhshish died July 12 after a white 2006 Acura TL rear-ended the BMW they were riding in, sending the car into a power pole.
The occupants of the Acura – described as young South Asian men – fled on foot.
RCMP have spoken with the Acura's registered owner, who has retained legal counsel.
So far, however, no charges have been laid.
