Man shot multiple times in Whalley

A 39-year-old Surrey man was shot several times early Monday morning in what police believe was a targeted attack resulting from a drug deal gone wrong.

The shooting occurred at the Shell gas station at King George Highway and 108 Avenue just before 1:30 a.m.

The victim, who is well-known to police, was taken to hospital but is expected to survive.

Police say there were a number of witnesses to the shooting who fled the scene.

"With the threat now having passed, we're asking that they step forward and help our major crime investigators with this investigation," said RCMP Sgt. Roger Morrow.

Police are also reviewing surveillance footage from the gas station and from surrounding businesses.

Anyone with information pertaining to the shooting is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502
