In defence of Diwali celebrations
This is my response to letter writer Jennifer Dorey from Surrey, calling the fireworks with the Diwali festival of lights something as horrible as “war.”
Diwali is not the only time when you hear fireworks. Did you forget about Halloween?
Clearly complaining to the police has led you nowhere, so next time while you sit in your kitchen, enjoy the beautiful lights in the sky. I love all the fireworks and so does my dog!

Halloween noisy, too
I find it interesting that Jennifer Dorey combines the issue of fireworks on Diwali with that of illegal suites. She carries on to mention that the city won’t enforce the issue for fear of angering a large voting population.
I’m curious if she had the same concerns about fireworks two weeks ago during Halloween.
I suppose those fireworks were only set off by this same large population she speaks of? Her ignorance is appalling.
