Praising music of Delta youth
Recently, I volunteered to help with Café Folk, a Delta Youth Arts Council event at the Firehall Centre for the Arts.
It was run by teenagers and young adults. I was very impressed with the ambience, variety of groups and the great energy of the event.
The acts varied in size from duo to quintet and provided a wide range of music. Wintercoast, The Green Room, This Winter, Davide and Galen (Suddenly There), and Jer Bear and The Imaginaries provided a “goose bumpy” night for me.
The community should be proud of the Delta Arts Council for nurturing the leadership of Delta Youth Arts Council for this endeavour.
I do hope they have an encore event with these talented performers so more people can mingle with such a wonderful bunch of high-energy, responsible, enthusiastic young folk.
They took a risk and should be congratulated for their success.
