Marlins compete at nationals

The Fleetwood Marlins missed the playoff round by one game at the Pepsi Under-19 (Midget) Men’s Canadian Fastpitch Championship in Fredericton, New Brunswick last week.

The runner-up team at the provincial championships last month, the Marlins won two of their first three games before losing three straight and concluding round robin play with a 3-4 (won-lost) record.

Shortstop Bradley Peck was the leading batter with a .389 average. He also led the team with two triples, a pair of home runs and five runs batted in.

Outfielder Wes McDonald also homered in the tournament, while Brandon Peck and Michael Thompson were credited with four RBIs each.
