Kennedy signs with Marquette
Samantha Kennedy has signed a letter of intent to join the track and field team at Marquette University in Milwaukee.
“Throughout the recruiting process Sam has felt like a natural fit for our program and my coaching style, and will be a great addition to our team,” said Mike Koenning, who serves as Marquette’s throws coach. “She’s a very dedicated athlete that’s shown steady progress through her career and we will look to continue that trend here at Marquette.”
Kennedy won a gold medal in the hammer throw at the B.C. High School Track and Field Championships in June with a throw of 51.91 metres. Her personal best is 52.06 metres.
An honour roll student at Lord Tweedsmuir Secondary, Kennedy placed second at the Canadian Junior Championships last month.
