Valley West Hawks win one of two
The Valley West Hawks continue to sit in the middle of the B.C. Major Midget Hockey League standings, winning one of two games against the Greater Vancouver Canadians last weekend.
The Hawks traveled to Burnaby Saturday night and stopped the Canadians 4-1, then at home Sunday evening in Langley, they lost the rematch 7-4.
Valley West remained in sixth place in the 13-team league, with an 8-8 won-lost record.
Latrell Charleson of Surrey and Langley’s Nick Coltura, Ryan Rensby and Daniell Lange tallied in Saturday’s victory.
Kyle Raymond and Danton Heinen of Langley, and Surrey’s Mitchell Friesen and Jerret Smith were the goal scorers in Sunday’s loss.
The Hawks will host the struggling Kootenay Ice, winners of just one of 16 games played this season, Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Langley Sportsplex and Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Surrey Sports and Leisure Complex.
