United in Imperial Cup final

The Surrey United Firefighters will have a chance to defend their Imperial Cup championship, after defeating ICST Pegasus 1-0 in a semifinal contest Friday night at Newton Athletic Park.

Player-coach Niall Thompson scored the winner after coming into the game as a substitute, heading home a cross from Sean Parkes in the 75th minute.

Paul Shepherd earned the shutout, making several key saves against a Pegasus team which finished first in this year’s Premier Division of the Vancouver Metro Soccer League.
