Roller derby season kicks off Saturday
The roller derby season kicks off this Saturday, April 28 in Cloverdale, when the Mainland Misfits present "Ft. Slaughterdale."
It's a jam-packed night of derby at the Cloverdale Curling Club (6150 176 Street, Surrey): the Doomsday Bunnies take on the Squamish Sea to Sky Sirens, and then it's the Vancouver Murder vs. The Vancouver Murder.
Announcers are Dr. Jenny Fever and GunSweat, and Mr. Shawn LaRock will DJ.
Tickets are $12, but children under 12 are free. Available online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/241451, and at the door.
This is an open, family-friendly event, with a beer garden and full concession.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the first whistle is 7 p.m.
A portion of the evening's proceeds will go to Kidsport Canada, a charity that provides support to children to remove the financial barriers preventing them from playing organized sport.
The Misfits are collecting gently-used equipment and cycles for REC for Kids, another organization assisting children in need.
