Surrey sprinter breaks BC Games record – twice
Jake Hanna has only competed in one event so far, but he has already crushed the BC Games’ 300M record – twice on the same day.
The Fraser Valley (Zone 3) athlete from Surrey won his semi-final heat effortlessly on Friday morning in a time of 37.35, breaking the record by mere milliseconds, but easing up before he crossed the finish line. In between races, Hanna said he was saving his energy to win later in the final.
“I want to break 36,” he said, before his final later in the afternoon, and he was definitely close to this goal.
Hanna broke his earlier set record, sprinting across the finish line with a time of 36.09, just 0.06 seconds off his personal best, which he ran last weekend.
Along with the 300M, Hanna is also competing in the 200M, and the 200M Hurdles. He plans to better his times in these events over the next two days and hopefully win. He said he may even break another record in one of these events if all goes well.
