YOUTH SPORTS (SOCCER) Hurricanes in cup final

A 4-0 win over the Abbotsford Gryphons has lifted the Whalley Hurricanes into the final of the under-17 Silver A Coastal Classic Cup.

Sonia Badesha had a outstanding game scoring all four goals for the Hurricanes. Kandace Badasha made some great saves, earning the shutout.

Colts triumph in Merritt

The Cloverdale Colts C6 team went undefeated to win a Bantam C tournament in Merritt.

The Colts won four games and tied the fifth. Mitchell Garrett and Jarrett Kuebler played well in goal, allowing 13 goals in the five games while playing behind the solid defence of Travis Miller, Erik Madsen, Parn Gill, and Eric Purdy.

Forwards Caleb Lefebvre, Kayne Sumanik, Gary Mahal, Kyle Jangula, Matt McRae, Matt Lawson, Ryan Brown, Cole Collins, and Riley Roberts combined to score 32 goals.

Two playoff wins

The Cloverdale Colts C7 team closed out their Bantam C playoff schedule with a pair of victories.

Brendan Koselowski had the hat trick in a 6-3 win over the Surrey Sharks. Jason Johnson scored two goals and assisted on another, while Ryan Funk collected four helpers. Jeevan Samra with a goal and Dwight Lilly with two assists also contributed offensively.

Brandon Sidoni netted a pair of goals in a 5-3 victory over Surrey. Steve Munro, Dayton Hayashi and Funk were the other goal scorers. Lilly had another two helpers, with Daniel Matilda, Kyle Sidwell and Funk earning one each.
