Davani commits to Kwantlen

Less than two months after the season came to an end, the Kwantlen Eagles are retooling their men’s basketball team.

Head coach Bernie Love announced Wednesday Omid Davani of the Terry Fox Ravens has committed the B.C. Colleges Athletic Association (BCCAA) squad for 2008-09.

“Omid possesses the type of athleticism that allows him to play four spots on the floor,” said Love. “He can shoot the three, score in the post, beat guys off the dribble and is one of the purest passers you will ever see.”

Davani paced the Ravens to a seventh place finish at the B.C. Championship Tournament in Vancouver last month, and is looking forward to joining the Kwantlen crew next season.

“I’m definitely excited to come to Kwantlen. It’s an up and coming program and with the new guys coming in, there is lots of potential,” he said.

The Eagles basketball program will be holding open try-outs for the 2008-09 squad on Friday, April 25 from 5-9 p.m. An invitational camp will be held the following day on Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with returning players scrimmaging with the new recruits.
