Devils defeat Panthers for road victory
While making it five wins in a row, the North Delta Devils have clawed their way back to the .500 mark.
The Devils outplayed the Port Moody Panthers over 60 minutes Monday night in Port Moody, and came away with a 4-1 victory.
Once at 2-7 (won-lost) on the season, North Delta is now an even 7-7 and in third place in the Tom Shaw Conference of the Pacific Junior Hockey League, two points ahead of the Grandview Steelers.
The Devils had an edge in play in the first period, but trailed 1-0 after 20 minutes.
The visitors ran all over the Panthers in the second period, firing 22 shots at the Port Moody net, getting a tying goal from Tristan Craighead five minutes into the session and the eventual game-winner from Colin Catchpole three minutes later.
Limiting the Panthers to just four shots in the final frame, the Devils padded their lead with goals from Joshua Smith and Joshua Tresevic. Catchpole with one assist, and Eben Norman and Levi De Waal with a pair each, all had two-point games.
Steve Myland was in goal again for North Delta, making 20 saves on 31 Panther shots.
The Devils will be on the road twice on the weekend, visiting the Ridge Meadows Flames Friday night in Maple Ridge, then facing the North Vancouver Wolf Pack Saturday evening.
