Eagles add experience
Two veterans of B.C. Colleges Athletic Association (BCCAA) basketball will be joining the Kwantlen Eagles in the fall.
Mike Davis of White Rock and Kenny Ryan of Delta will suit up for the 2008-09 season, announced Eagles head coach Bernie Love.
Davis returns to the Eagles after a two-year absence. A co-MVP for Kwantlen in 2005-06, the six-foot-four forward left the Eagles after deciding to spend time away from school.
Davis was fifth in the BCCAA in rebounding in 2005-06, and is also an offensive threat.
“He can post up or shoot the three and is always looking to create something offensively when he has the ball,” said Love.
Ryan, a Delta native, transferred to Kwantlen from Langara College to work towards a degree in business.
“Kenny is going to bring a toughness to the Eagles that we were lacking last season,” said Love. “He’s a great rebounder who can score in the post as well as step away from the basket and hit shots.”
The Eagles basketball program will be holding open try-outs for the 2008-09 squad on Friday, April 25 from 5-9 p.m. An invitational camp will be held the following day, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with returning players scrimmaging with the new recruits.
