Three wins for Sungod’s Penner

Elena Penner of the Delta Sungod Swim Club qualified for seven finals, winning three, at the FastSwim Invitational in Richmond Dec. 2-3.

Penner, 12, was the winner of the 50, 100m and 200m freestyle races. She also placed fourth in the 400m freestyle, the 100m butterfly and the 200m individual medley, and was eighth in the 100m breast stroke.

Penner also won the 12-and-under 50m freestyle Eliminator event, a three-race competition which begins with eight swimmers, but is reduced to four after one race and two after two. Penner’s time of 29.11 was the fastest of the two swimmers in the third race.

Other Sungod swimmers in event finals included:

Nick Kidd, 14 – 4th 100m back stroke; 5th 200m freestyle, 50m back stroke; 7th 200m individual medley, 100 butterfly.

Noah Landry, 12 – 6th 200 butterfly.

Michael Milic, 14 – 4th 200m back stroke; 7th 100 breaststroke.

Logan Warkentin, 13 – 4th 100m back stroke, 200m freestyle, 400 individual medley, 400m freestyle; 5th 200m individual medley, 100 butterfly; 7th 200 back stroke.

Milic also qualified for the 2013 BC Short Course Provincial Championships in Victoria.
