Harleen Sidhu turned in a pair of high-scoring games to lift the University of British Columbia (UBC) Thunderbirds to a pair of wins in Canada West women’s basketball.

She netted 24 points, seven rebounds and five steals in an 81-75 victory over Winnipeg Friday at UBC. The Surrey native made 12 of her 13 shots from the foul line.

The next night against Manitoba, Sidhu led the Thunderbirds in both points (21) and rebounds (nine), on eight-for-nine shooting from the field in a 62-45 win.

Sidhu’s weekend performances vaulted the Fleetwood Park Secondary graduate into a tie for sixth in Canada West scoring, with an average of 16 points a game. It also helped UBC (6-2, won-lost) move into a tie for first place in the Pacific Division with Fraser Valley.
