Nick Mitro of Surrey turned in an outstanding performance at the Enquist Slalom ski race Feb. 1-2 at Apex Mountain Resort (west of Penticton).

A member of the Hemlock Resort team, Mitro placed second in the under-18 men's race Saturday, and followed up with a first-place run in the same event Sunday. When combined with the under-16 age group, Mitro's efforts earned him a bronze medal on the overall men's standings.

In its 78th year, the Enquist Slalom featured 86 juvenile skiers from southern B.C.
